2020 Race Report–The Year of COVID-19
COVID-19 forced the delay of our race from May 2, 2020 to September 5, 2020. In the end, COVID-19 proved to be too big of a challenge and Trail of Four Winds 25K went virtual. We're looking forward to 2021! A shoutout to our runners, volunteers and sponsors who continue to support Trail of Four Winds 25K. Thank you!

2019 Race Report
We're looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend for the debut of Trail of Four Winds 25K! Safe travels!
Trail of Four Winds 25K, May 4, 2019 at 10 AM
Remember to bring the following:
A Change of Cloths - We hope to have a hose on-site for any runner wishing to wash off. The trail will most likely be muddy in certain sections depending on the weather this week. Of course, there's the lake too.
A Camping Chair - There's no seating at the start/finish line. Bring your camping chair so you can kick back, enjoy a post-race burger, and a LogBoat Brewing Company product. Runners are welcome to hang out beachside as long as they want, and we encourage it!
Toilet Paper - While there should be plenty in the park restrooms, one never knows.
Additional Post-Race Beverages - LogBoat is providing each runner with at least one beer (perhaps two), but guaranteed one. If you want more, you may considering bringing some.
Extra Snacks - Each runner will have a meal ticket for two post-race burgers and a bag of chips. There will be plenty of water as well, but you may want to bring additional snacks.
Start/Finish Line is located at Public Beach #1, Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Lake of the Ozarks State Park also has a Public Beach #2. A simple Google search may inadvertently take you there. You don't want that one. Once again, runners should meet at Public Beach #1. Here's a map:
You'll be entering the park from Hwy 42. Once you enter the park, you'll be on Hwy 134 for just over 5 miles. Hwy 134 ends at the start/finish line. You'll see volunteers directing traffic at that point.
Packet Pickup is Friday night, May 3 from 6 PM to 9 PM at LandShark Bar & Grill located at Margaritaville Lake Resort, formerly know as Tan-Tar-A, 494 Tan Tara Estate Drive, Osage Beach, MO 65065. Follow Margaritaville’s main road down to the lake where it eventually ends at the LandShark parking lot. Also find guidance from the resort signage once inside the main entrance. LandShark Bar & Grill's main number is (573) 348-8593. Find the packet pickup table poolside. Reminder–all runners who show their bib will receive a 10% discount for all food and drinks at LandShark Bar & Grill and the Tiki bar next door (Friday night only)! Great lake views at this location and good food.
Race day morning, packet pickup runs from 8 AM to 9:30 AM at the start/finish line (Public Beach #1).
Final Lap Race Management is timing our event. There will be 6 waves of approximately 25 runners in each wave–separated by 3 minutes. Race starts at 10 AM sharp. Wave assignments can be found on your race bib, along with your beer and meal ticket.
The course can be found on the Trail Run Project app. After downloading the app, download all Missouri trails. This will allow runners to stay on course, even without mobile service. Of course, you don't have to run with your phone. The course will be well marked with orange ribbon and directional signage. Please study the map well. You'll noticed the course has a larger upper loop and a smaller lower loop with a connector in between. You will run the connector twice–on the out and the back.

Trail Run Project,
The trail fluctuates between single track, double track and wider–with 1600 plus feet of elevation gain spread throughout. There are a few small wooden bridges and railroad tie steps you will encounter in the first few miles. Be careful, they could be slick. In addition, trail surfaces vary from well groomed to anything but–expect roots, loose rocks, slick surfaces, creek crossings, and steep grades of 10 percent or more. The last 4/10 of a mile is downhill on Hwy 134–a fast finish. Watch for cars in this area. There will be orange cones and volunteers in this area as well. Runners should be mindful of traffic in all parking lot areas and road crossings.
There are three aid stations:
Water and Electrolytes only at 3.3 miles
Bananas, oranges, pretzels, peanut M&M’s, water and electrolytes at 10.2 miles
Water and electrolytes only at 13.3 miles
Considering running with a handheld if you believe you will need additional fluids between the first and second aid stations. All aid stations will provide disposable cups.
All runners who complete the course will receive a finisher award.
The top male and female finishers will receive a free pair of Altra running shoes, a free entry to Trail of Four Winds in 2020 and a 1st place award.
The top three in the following age divisions will also receive awards:
Good luck, everyone!
Post-Race Meal, Awards and REI Raffle
Reminder, your bib will have a meal and beverage ticket attached. Awards will be handed out as soon as Final Lap Management certifies our winners. After the awards, there will be a drawing for several $50 REI gift cards.
We hope to have two photographers on the course. One at a creek crossing in the final 5 miles and another one at the start/finish line.
Men’s and women’s restrooms are located at the start/finish line and near the marina, a short walk from the start/finish line. The restrooms at the start/finish line also have a small room (semiprivate) that could be used as a changing room.
Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance (LOWA) is our official charity partner. Their mission: "The Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance will PRESERVE, PROTECT, and IMPROVE the Lake of the Ozarks, its waters and natural resources, while maintaining our economic, social, and environmental health." You'll see many of their volunteers on race day. Please check out their website here, https://www.lowatershed.org.
A shoutout to all our sponsors: Altra Running, LandShark Bar & Grill, LogBoat Brewing Company, L•O Profile, Ozark Mountain Woodworks and Shelby Communications.
We have one spot remaining! We appreciate this near sell-out of our race! We hope everyone has a great time and a great race. We hope PRs are set and goals are reached. We look forward to seeing familiar faces, good friends and meeting new people. It’s always a good time to kick back post-race and share some laughs and stories with other likeminded individuals, friends and family.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
We’ll see you soon!
